Trust, built into every feature

Safety and privacy: how we protect our community

Dating with a disability means doing more research before you sign up anywhere. We respect that. This page explains exactly how Lovery-mail verifies members, enforces anti-fetishization, handles your data, and gives you tools to report harm — in plain language, with no marketing fluff.

What we promise

Our online dating safety commitments

Three promises we keep to every member, every day — not as premium perks, but as the baseline of belonging here.

Every profile verified

Free photo and short video check at sign-up. Reverse-image scans flag stolen photos. Unverified accounts are removed within 48 hours.

Anti-fetishization enforcement

Devotee accounts are banned at onboarding, at report, and by keyword pattern. Humans review every flag inside 24 hours.

Rapid response, human-led

A 14-person trust and safety team, including disabled and neurodivergent moderators, handles reports in shifts across U.S. time zones.

Profile verification

Profile verification, done with care

Profile verification on Lovery-mail is free, takes under ninety seconds, and is required before you can send or receive messages. We ask new members to upload one photo and record a five-second video holding up a simple gesture the system prompts on screen. A reviewer matches the two to confirm you are a real person, not an AI-generated face or a stolen photo set.

We do not store the video after verification completes. Your identity tags (disability, neurodivergence, D/deaf identity) are never part of the verification record — that information stays under your control, shared only where and when you decide. You can find the full data workflow on our terms and privacy policy page.

What verification does not do

Verification confirms a member is a real person with a matching face and photo. It does not vet their character, intentions, or history off-platform. That is why our reporting tools, disclosure pacing, and moderation team matter just as much.

Anti-fetishization policy

Anti-fetishization: zero tolerance, clearly enforced

A devotee is someone whose interest in disability is a fetish rather than a relationship. Generic dating apps treat this as a gray area. We do not. Lovery-mail bans devotee behavior at sign-up screening, at user report, and by automated keyword pattern in bios and messages.

Behaviors that get an account removed

  • Bios or openers that reduce a member to a single disability trait, body part, or mobility device.
  • Messages asking about stumps, chairs, prosthetics, or medical details before any rapport is built.
  • Requests for photos of medical equipment, scars, or residual limbs — ever.
  • Accounts whose only shared interest is disability itself, with no other life context.
  • Repeatedly contacting members who have blocked, declined, or unmatched.

When you flag a profile for fetishization, our team reviews the full message history and public profile within 24 hours. If the behavior fits our pattern library, the account is removed and the IP is blocked from re-registering. We do not issue warnings for devotee behavior.

In-app tools

Reporting and blocking tools at your fingertips

Three taps or fewer — from any profile, message, or photo — to remove someone from your experience.

One-tap report

Flag a profile or message with a single tap. Add context if you want; skip it if you are tired. Either way, it reaches a human reviewer.

Instant block

Blocking is instant, silent, and permanent. The other member cannot tell they were blocked and cannot create a new account to reach you.

Mute and pause

Not every uncomfortable moment is a report. Mute a conversation, pause your whole profile, or freeze messages for a weekend — no explanation needed.

Your data, your call

How we handle your data

We take the shortest possible path between you and a good match. That means collecting less, storing less, and never selling what we do hold.

  • We never sell member data. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to insurance companies.
  • Identity tags are opt-in and granular. Show your disability publicly, only to matches, or not at all — you decide per profile field.
  • End-to-end encrypted messaging. Our team cannot read your conversations unless you report one to us.
  • One-click account deletion. Deleting your account removes photos, messages, and profile data within 30 days. No retention clauses.
  • Clear cookie choices. Analytics and marketing cookies are off until you opt in — a choice you can change any time.

Full details live in our terms and privacy policy, written at a seventh-grade reading level.

Scam prevention

How to stay safe online dating: our anti-scam measures

Scammers target any dating platform, but they often single out users they think are isolated or financially vulnerable. We work on both ends: shutting scam accounts down fast, and giving you the signals to spot one before we do.

The 4-step safety checklist we send every new member

  1. Keep the conversation on Lovery-mail. Members who rush you to WhatsApp, Telegram, or crypto wallets in the first week are almost always scamming.
  2. Never send money. No genuine match will ask for a loan, a gift card, or help paying a fee — full stop.
  3. Video before meeting. A short video call confirms the person matches their photos. Scam accounts will almost always refuse.
  4. Report and block fast. One tap. You protect yourself and every member who would have been contacted next.

Our automated systems flag sudden account creation from high-risk IP ranges, bulk-message patterns, and bios recycled across removed accounts. Combined with your reports, this catches most scam rings within their first 24 hours on the platform. For more tactical guidance, read our longer guide on online dating safety tips.

How do I stay safe online dating on Lovery-mail?

Keep conversations on-platform for at least the first two weeks, video call before meeting, never send money, and report anything that feels off — even if you cannot explain why. Our moderation team treats gut-feeling reports with the same seriousness as explicit ones.

What should I do if I get a message that feels fetishizing?

Tap the report icon on the message, choose “fetishization or devotee behavior,” and block the account. You do not need to explain or quote the message — the system forwards the full context to a human reviewer automatically. Most accounts are removed within 24 hours.

Can I use the platform without sharing my disability publicly?

Yes. Every identity tag has three visibility levels: public, matches only, and hidden. You can also lead with your hobbies, work, or values on your profile and disclose disability only in direct conversation. There is no penalty or reduced visibility for private profiles.

What happens to my data if I delete my account?

Profile, photos, and messages are removed from active systems immediately and deleted from backups within 30 days. We keep a minimal record of banned accounts to prevent re-registration, but no personal content. You can request a full data export before deletion from your account settings.
